“Draw the art you want to see, start the business you want to run, play the music you want to hear, write the books you want to read, build the products you want to use, do the work you want to see done.” Austin Kleon

Maria Giudice on changemakers…

A great speech on changemakers here by Maria Giudice.

People who can solve problems based on evolving circumstances.

People who can see the patterns around them. Identify the problems in any situation.

Figure out ways to solve the problems.

Organise fluid teams.

Lead collective action.

Continually adapt as situations change.

Designers are change makers. No matter where they sit in the hierarchy.

Treat every problem like a design problem. Start with people.

interview any one you meet up and down the scale.

Five questions Maria asks:

Tell me your story.

Why do you work here?

What keeps you up at night?

What are your hopes & dreams.

How can I help you?

Key Problems are this: (AutoDesk) . .but probably applicable to many department teams.

Engineering-centric culture focused on execution.

Lack of a cohesive design community.

Imbalance of power on product teams.

Fragmented access to customers and research.

Quantity of features over quality of experience.

Thanks @Dan Fell for the nudge to watch this.
